For many nurses and healthcare professionals, moving from having an idea to producing meaningful research can feel overwhelming. The process requires guidance, support, and the right environment to grow. Without these, many valuable ideas remain unexplored.

Over the past year, we have witnessed members of the Nursiscope community move from learning about research to actively conducting studies, collaborating with other researchers, and presenting their work at national and international conferences.

Their stories show what can happen when passion is supported with mentorship, preparation, and opportunities.

Today, we celebrate six Nursiscope researchers whose work is contributing to conversations around digital health, oncology nursing, nursing education, public health, and research capacity.

Rachael Oduyemi: Research Addressing Community Health Challenges

Rachael Oduyemi presented her research titled:

“Feasibility and Acceptability of a Community-Based Peer Education Programme to Enhance Breast Cancer Screening Practices Among Rural Women in Ogun State, Nigeria.”

Her research focused on exploring practical ways to improve breast cancer awareness and screening practices among women in rural communities.

Through this work, Rachael highlighted the important role nurses can play in developing community-based solutions that address real healthcare challenges.

Peter Adebiyi: Turning Research Ideas into Recognised Impact

Peter Adebiyi presented his research titled:

“Feasibility and Usability of an AI-Enabled Mobile Health Prototype for Self-Management Among Sickle Cell Patients: A Preliminary Pilot Study.”

His study explored how an AI-enabled mobile health solution can support individuals living with sickle cell disease and improve self-management.

With support from Nursiscope, Peter received guidance in refining his abstract, strengthening his work, and preparing for his conference presentation.

His dedication was recognised when his presentation emerged as the Overall Best Oral Presentation among 130 accepted abstracts.

Reflecting on his journey, Peter shared:

"It’s a thing to recognise an opportunity, but it takes mentorship to harness it."

His achievement is a reminder that the right guidance can help transform research efforts into meaningful contributions.

Faith Ajayi: A First Presentation and a Defining Milestone

Faith Ajayi presented her research titled:

“Artificial Intelligence-Enabled Digital Interventions in Breast Cancer Care: A Scoping Review.”

Her study examined how digital interventions are being applied across breast cancer care, including prevention, diagnosis, treatment, survivorship, and palliative care.

For Faith, this was more than a conference presentation. It was her first oral abstract presentation, marking an important milestone in her professional journey.

Through mentorship and support from Nursiscope, she gained confidence throughout the process, from refining the research work to preparing for the presentation.

Oyindamola Eminiken: Strengthening Nursing Research Capacity

Oyindamola Eminiken presented:

“Assessment of Research Needs and Research Capacity of Nurses in Lagos State, Nigeria.”

Her study examined the gap between nurses’ interest in research and their ability to actively participate in research activities.

The findings emphasised the need for stronger mentorship, capacity building, and systems that empower nurses to contribute more confidently to evidence-based practice.

Ese Laureta Ekponbor: Beyond the Classroom

Ese Laureta Ekponbor presented:

“Beyond the Classroom: Enhancing Nursing Education Through Professional Experiences and Volunteer Opportunities.”

Her research explored how professional experiences and volunteer opportunities can complement nursing education by helping nurses develop skills, gain career clarity, and discover new possibilities.

Through Nursiscope’s support, Ese was encouraged to pursue the opportunity, refine her work, and confidently present her research on an international platform.

Anointing Julius: Growing Through Research and Innovation

Anointing Julius presented:

“AI-Driven Chatbots in Health Education and Patient Support: A Scoping Review of Usability and Effectiveness.”

His research explored how chatbot technology can support health education and patient care.

His journey began with a desire to learn more about research, and through mentorship, collaboration, and continuous learning, he progressed to presenting his work internationally.
